Achievements

Mayor of Newbridge 2007/2008 and 2011/2012.

Chairman of Pairc Mhuire Residents Association. Have worked with the residents in getting many problems solved.
Chairman of The Five Estates, with the help of others got speed ramps fitted in all five. New Lighting and many other problems solved. New footpaths in Lakeside Park
Provided funding from my discretionary grant to organised a safe footpath to the school in Athgarvan.
Tried to make myself available to anyone who needed help with a problem and helped to the best of my ability.
Chairman and board member of Chinese Irish Culture Academy for six years.
As Mayor of Newbridge and also Chairman of Chinese Culture Academy, I received an Award on behalf of C.I.C.A.at the Dublin Bus Community Awards. The Awards were presented by The Taoiseach and Patron Niall Quinn. Also attending were May Tsang Chief Organiser C.I.C.A. and Summy Sing Wong.Secretary C.I.C.A.
Chairman of St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. 2013 Parade was one of the biggest Parades ever. Many people from all over the county came to see the seventy-six different groups who took part. We had guests from Florida, Germany, France, a brilliant Marching Band from Italy. This year will be my tenth year organizing the Parade.

Executive Member and member of Standing Council of Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland.
Working closely with Community Games and Tidy Towns in Newbridge.
Organised a Mayors Ball in aid of Local Down Syndrome and Wheelchair Association 2007.
Organising Christmas Lights with present Mayor Mick Deely for the last ten years running.
Officially opened the Bridge House with President Mary McAleese 2007.
Welcomed President Higgins to Scoil Rath Iomain in  2011.
Worked closely with local Garda and Neighborhood Watch and many other issue's as chair of Newbridge Joint Policing Committee..
Working closely with many Residents Associations helping getting different projects done.
I was born in Rathangan and lived there for twenty years. Attended Rathangan Primary and Vocational School also Bolton Street College of Technology. Lived in the Newbridge area for 43 years. I have been married to Carmel for 44 years. We have four daughters, Liz, Louise, Patricia, Valerie, one son Anthony and nine grand children.

My work history consists of 12 years at Roadstone Ltd. Allen Quarry as a Fitter/Mechanic, followed by many years of factory maintenance with Reliance Engineering. I worked for three years with Newbridge Community Workshop as an Instructor.  Carmel and I owned a leaflet distribution business until July 2011, which has helped me meet local business people from all areas of Co. Kildare and other counties. It also allowed me to help voluntary groups in my area by putting out their leaflets free of charge.

Traveled to China at my own expense to improve better links between Newbridge and China.

Also traveled at my own expense to Ocala in America to witness the Twinning agreement being signed, as this will be of great benefit to the Horse Racing industries in our area.

I had the privilege of welcoming the then President, Mary McAleese to Newbridge. I also welcomed other political leaders including the Chinese Ambassador and have visited the Chinese Embassy on many occasions.
I held the position of Mayor of Newbridge in 2007/2008, and again in 2010/2011 which helped me achieve many goals for local residents.

I was also Chairman of County Kildare VEC in 2011/2012.  As Chair of Co Kildare VEC welcomed the then newly elected President Higgins to Ard Scoil Rathangan. I had the privilege of been invited to visit President Higgins and his wife in their home in the Aras in Nov 2013 as a member of Education Training Board of Ireland Standing Council.

I had the privilege of welcoming the then President, Mary McAleese to Newbridge. I also welcomed other political leaders including the Chinese Ambassador and have visited the Chinese Embassy on many occasions.

Topped the poll in the Kildare electoral area of Kildare County Council, and got a record 1,000 first preference votes in Newbridge Town Council elections. Mayor of Newbridge for the second time in three years, Chairman of County Kildare VEC and area committee Kildare Co.Co. Chair of Newbridge joint policing committee.
